If you are a yoga beginner or are planning to begin with yoga practices then here are some of the helpful tips and advices for you to get started with yoga.
- Find a good yoga teacher that you like and can trust, and who gives all his students equal help and attention as needed. A good teacher will willingly pass on his or her own yoga tips and advices to their students.
- Respect your body’s limitations. Do not push or force yourself to look exactly like your instructor. Forcing your body to stretch beyond its limits will just cause you injury.
- Concentrate as you inhale and exhale. Being aware of your breath is an essential part of your yoga practice; it is referred to as pranayama.
- Never compare your progress with others; there can be people in your class who are more flexible more strong and in much shape. Yoga may be fashionable, but it’s not a sports or a competition.
- Make sure that you have enough space around you to perform all the postures.
- It is advisable not to eat anything 1-2 hours before practicing yoga and drink a glass of water before starting and avoid drinking water while you are practicing.
- Try to wear loose and comfortable cloths, since you will have to stretch your body in all the possible directions and wearing tight fitting clothes are likely to restrict your movement.
- Try to make your yoga practices more regularly and frequently rather than going for occasional long sessions of yoga.
- You can always modify your postures as per your comfort because it not possible for you to perfume all the postures perfectly.
- It is always good to communicate with your instructor if you have any doubles or if you are facing any difficulty, you do not need to be afraid to ask or say.
- Always end you yoga sessions by relaxing or by doing “Shavasana”.
